Leapmotor C10 Review: The People’s Electric SUV

By Paul Enright | May, 2026

With sleek styling, generous standard equipment, and pricing that undercuts many established rivals, the Leapmotor C10 makes a strong case for itself as one of the best-value electric SUVs arriving on the Isle of Man.

If you haven’t heard of Leapmotor yet, that’s understandable. The Chinese EV brand is still new to the British Isles, despite building electric vehicles in China since 2019. Following a joint venture with Stellantis in 2023, Leapmotor began expanding across Europe, bringing models like the compact T03 and this family-focused C10 SUV to new markets.

The C10 enters a competitive segment dominated by cars such as the Tesla Model Y, Skoda Enyaq, Peugeot E-3008, and Vauxhall/Opel Grandland Electric — but it does so with one major advantage: value.

Design & Interior

The Leapmotor C10 looks exactly like what most buyers expect from a modern electric SUV: clean lines, slim LED lighting, flush door handles, and a minimalist overall design.

It’s understated rather than attention-grabbing, and that works in its favour. The optional metallic green paint gives the car a far more premium appearance than the standard white finish, while the 20-inch alloy wheels help give it some road presence without looking overstyled.

Inside, the C10 feels surprisingly premium for the price point. The cabin is spacious and airy, thanks in part to the large panoramic roof, while the dashboard follows the minimalist EV trend with very few physical buttons.

Ahead of the driver sits a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, while a large 14.6-inch central touchscreen controls nearly all vehicle functions.

Thankfully, Leapmotor’s infotainment system is easier to use than some rival Chinese EV systems. It’s not quite as polished as Tesla’s setup, but it’s responsive enough for daily use. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support are now available through software updates, which makes life considerably easier.

Cabin quality is impressive throughout, with soft-touch materials, synthetic leather upholstery, and plenty of storage space for family life. Rear passenger room is especially generous, making the C10 feel every bit like a proper large SUV.

Practicality

At just under 4.7 metres long, the C10 offers the sort of space families will appreciate.

Boot capacity stands at 435 litres with the rear seats in place and expands to 1,410 litres when folded flat. While some rivals offer more outright luggage space, there’s still more than enough practicality here for shopping trips, airport runs, or weekends away around the Island and beyond.

Battery, Range & Driving Experience

Leapmotor keeps things refreshingly simple by offering just one battery and motor setup.

The C10 uses a 69.9kWh battery paired with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 215bhp. Performance is solid rather than sporty, with 0-62mph taking 7.9 seconds and top speed capped at 106mph.

On Manx roads, comfort is clearly the priority.

The suspension deals well with rougher surfaces and broken tarmac, delivering a softer and more forgiving ride than some firmer European rivals. Around town and on open roads, the C10 feels smooth, quiet, and easy to drive.

Push on through tighter bends and you’ll notice some body roll along with steering that lacks precision, but this isn’t trying to be a performance SUV. It’s built for relaxed family motoring — and in that role it performs well.

Official range is rated at up to 263 miles (WLTP), which should comfortably cover several days of typical Isle of Man driving before needing a recharge.

The weakest area is charging speed.

Maximum DC rapid charging is limited to 84kW, meaning a 10-80% top-up can take around 45 minutes under ideal conditions. That’s noticeably slower than rivals like the Tesla Model Y or Skoda Enyaq.

Standard Equipment

One of the C10’s biggest strengths is just how much equipment comes as standard.

Unlike many rivals with confusing trim structures and expensive options lists, the Leapmotor C10 keeps things simple with one well-equipped specification that includes:

There’s also app connectivity allowing owners to remotely lock, unlock, and pre-condition the car from their phone.

Verdict

The Leapmotor C10 isn’t trying to be the most exciting EV on the market — and that’s perfectly fine.

It prioritises comfort, space, technology, and affordability over outright performance or cutting-edge charging speeds. For many buyers, especially families looking to make the switch to electric motoring without spending premium-brand money, that approach will make a lot of sense.

While it may not beat the class leaders in every area, the overall package is difficult to ignore at this price point.

For Isle of Man drivers wanting a practical, well-equipped electric SUV that simply gets on with the job, the Leapmotor C10 deserves serious consideration.
